Rebels
"Rebels: a History of Unconventional Fashion" is a project completed while a student at Auburn University, Spring 2018. Tasked with designing a book, I decided to dive into something I love: non-men who broke boundaries with their fashion and gender expression throughout history. After an extensive research period, I compiled and edited together the body copy of "Rebels", complete with a preface I wrote myself. The use of all black-and-white images——paired with yellow geometric accents, bold text, and glossy pages——imbues the layouts with a sense of modernity, energy, and a little bit of fun. The title design on the cover was cross-stitched to add a textural element as well as a nod to the "feminine arts" and clothes themselves. The book was handbound, and the pages themselves have a rough edge- this is a book on the "unconventional", after all.
